Craftsmanship & Sourcing

We believe objects of immaculate design and craftsmanship remain relevant for a lifetime. This ethos guides all design and material choices for all Hannah Ward pieces.

Why 18K?

We predominantly use 18K gold because we aim to make jewellery that will last. Like beautifully crafted furniture that becomes an antique over time, our pieces are designed for longevity, improving in both their intrinsic material value and the sentimental stories they carry.

Our process
Each piece begins as a hand-carved wax or sketch, before being refined and delivered to our clients. Most pieces are individually numbered and permanently recorded in our system.

Our gemstones
All gemstones are individually selected by Hannah alongside a qualified gemologist. We work with specialist diamond and gemstone dealers worldwide to source stones. Diamonds over 0.50ct are accompanied by a certificate, and most significant coloured gemstones are supplied with independent gemological certification.

Responsible sourcing
We use 100% recycled gold for our Melbourne-made pieces and Fairmined gold for jewellery produced in Bangkok. These choices reflect our commitment to responsible sourcing and creating jewellery intended to endure. Whereever possible we source our stones from dealers who are signed up to the Responsible Jewellery Council which sets ethical, social, human rights, and environmental standards for the global watch and jewellery supply chain, from mining to retail.
